How long after a short sale can I buy a house?

Last modified June 10, 2023 A Borrower is generally not eligible for a new FHA-insured Loan if the Borrower had a short sale, foreclosure or a Deed-in-Lieu (DIL) of Foreclosure in the three-year period prior to the date of case number assignment. This three-year period begins on the date of the DIL or the date that the Borrower transferred ownership of the Property to the foreclosing Entity/designee. This information is on your last Warranty Deed filed in the county where the house was located.
